Polanski testified, under oath and in court, that he had sex with a 13 year old girl. He's as guilty as sin, and he admitted his crime (while continuing to maintain that it wasn't wrong because she wanted it, and because he seems to believe that all men want to sleep with barely nubile teenagers). His crime is not up for debate, it happened and he admitted it happened.

He continued to have a career. He can't return to the US because he skipped bail prior to sentencing, but he continued to make films and continued to make money and prizes for them while distinguished actors continued to work with him.

So I'm genuinely not sure what your point is, or how he's relevant. (Are you thinking of Woody Allen? He's not been convicted of anything).
