Nothing wrong with dressing like that. If you have to wear a work uniform you can still wear clothes like that in your free time.

Maybe OP does dress like that in their free time and that's why they wish they could do it ALL the time!

nayrt

This! I've become used to getting crap for being a "part-time-goth" because I have to dress differently for work, but it's still annoying and I would love to be a "full-time-goth". But my job pays well and allows me to buy all those expensive goth clothes, so I'm keeping it.

I have already decided that if I ever make enough money to considered eccentric instead of crazy I am dressing full time in Edwardian clothing. So I totally feel ya sister.

OP are you talking Victorian or Victorian Mourning? Those mourning veils trashed women's eyesight.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-05 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Not necessarily! It was certainly piously fashionable to wear heavy, heavy mourning veils (like it's piously fashionable today in Saudi Arabia) but generally women wore lighter veils so they could, you know, see. And they didn't wear them in the home.

Yeah, I'd dress like Kathrine Hepburn (Bringing up Baby) or Auntie Mame if i had the money.....

(Anonymous) 2018-02-04 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Regency Era all day err'day for me if I could.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-04 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd wear the hell out of that type of clothing too, OP, minus the veils.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-04 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
It does look really nice.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-05 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
If it was socially acceptable to dress this way all the time... what? You didn't finish that thought.

the first word of the second half of the sentence is "I'd", not "To"
