Norm Lewis is probably my favorite Javert, but Philip Quast was great, too. What a voice! Nothing wrong at all with being attracted to a talented singer with a fantastic voice. To each their own :)

Ugh, it bothers me so much to keep seeing people fawning over his Javert, like he's some sort of a godsend. He's not that even good-looking as people make him up to be. Get yourself together, OP.

I have. He's pretty good, but certainly not any better than Roger Allam or Norm Lewis. It baffles me to see someone call Quast the "ultimate Javert" -and I've seen it a lot- when he isn't. What makes him so special? I just don't get it.

What makes him special? You mean besides the soul-wrenching gaze and gorgeous one-of-a-kind voice? Besides how, when he sings, you can actually feel each and every word? Yeah, I don't get how any of that makes him special. The man is stunning, and I don't mean just looks-wise (I find myself holding my breath each time I watch 'Javert's Suicide', he's just too much)
