116 -...I never thought I'd have to say this, but GTFO my side. XD
Come on, if you paid attention to the game and just about everything connected with it, you'd realize that Tifa is not a contender in this 'Love Triangle'. Hell, you wanna know what's the biggest obstacle for Cloud/Tifa? CLOUD. If that isn't enough to make you feel secure enough to just enjoy the damned pairing, then Tifa's established maternal feelings towards Cloud should be.
Tifa's no more a sue than anyone else in the cast. She has flaws, she's easy to relate to, and she's dealing with it the best she can.
Quite honestly, I don't see why anyone fights about this. Cloud's not exactly the ideal guy, y'know. I know if I was reunited with someone I had a crush on, and he turned out to be a real damned douchebag to me, even though he thought I had been dead up 'til that point? That'd quell any residual feelings I might have had.
Then again, had things gone my way, AerTi would have been far more prevalent. XD
Really, unless you're 12 and just got into the fandom, grow the fuck up already. There is no need to sling mud at characters just because you think they somehow stand in the way of your 'ship. In fact, if you really love your pairing...shouldn't you be enjoying it instead of getting all wound up about what's canon and what's not?
149 - Um...pretty much what I wanted to say has already been said. Lifestream = neutral. I don't think the Lifestream would have done anything benevolent without Aerith guiding it and rallying the other souls within to help.

Anyway... Hi! :D Although you're being far too generous calling me a sane shipper. ♥ I'm prone to bouts of insanity every once in awhile. XD Though for the most part, at least in the FFVII fandom, I can consider myself sane(r than the average fan)! I've been on both sides of OMG CLOUD/TIFA VS. CLOUD/AERITH so I can see both sides.

Oh god, I fear for when our generation hits 50+. Past generations usually have feuds or bitter feelings over actual world wars. Us? VIDEO GAME PAIRINGS. If this fandom gets anymore batshit, I swear the Lifestream is going to will itself into existence JUST to purge us from the planet. XD
Insane squeeing over something you love > bashing. I always try to see both sides of an argument myself, because if you forget your manners regarding someone you engage in a debate, you've already lost. More importantly, fictional preferences are nothing to fight over. Ever.
When it comes to FFVII fandom...I've been Tifa. It was miserable. I've progressed towards being more like Aerith in terms of personality (finally got over the severe introversion), and I'm probably living the high point of my life right now. Both girls are easy to relate to, both are likable, and by dammit, both are awesome in their own ways and shouldn't be pitted against each other.

Seriously. :/ Though I have to admit, I do bash some ships (in other fandoms though; I've more or less distanced myself from this one, except to find good little things every now and then). D: It's a bad habit, but I admit to it! That's... progress, I think? :|
They shouldn't! Besides, they were good friends. I doubt in the end they were going to let something as petty as a dude with identity issues get in the way of their friendship. XD

It's both a hilarious and terrifying scenario. I'm anxious to see how this will turn out.
I try to refrain from ship bashing in all fandoms, but when some are just written so. Fucking. BADLY (see: Avatar, Harry Potter, etc.)--well, then I'm bashing the way things were written, which can easily be seen as ship-bashing. So you're not alone. D:
This is something rabid LT debaters seem to forget: Aerith and Tifa were friends. GOOD FRIENDS. They teased Cloud together! They had fun and giggled and had a great time while together--in fact, if Aerith had been in Nibelheim as a child, they (Cloud, Aerith and Tifa) probably all would have been best friends, and Cloud wouldn't have such painfully tender memories of being ignored by Tifa and her group. But then that'd take away from Cloud's struggle with his identity later, hence there goes a good chunk of the plot. Woe. D:

Even though Tifa was added in just for that purpose, there's still not enough girls to balance out the ratio. Six guys to three girls =/= not even enough, esp. since Yuffie was optional. Ok, to be fair, if we take out the optional characters, it's still 5:2, with one having to leave the party for good due to plot purposes.
But then you could always ship the good girls with the bad ones. Elena and Scarlet. I guess. XD
Still. AerTi ftw. I don't think it's possible to ship Cloud/Aerith and not have a soft spot for Aerith/Tifa since she and Cloud are almost the same person, if you substitute boobs for a peen. XD
