(Anonymous) 2018-02-07 01:33 am (UTC)(link)Actually, nobody's entirely sure whether or not this is true, because the 22nd Amendment (which is the one that set presidential term limits) specifically talks about prohibiting people from being elected President, not from serving as President. and it's unclear whether that would necessarily apply to VPs, especially if someone was appointed Vice President subsequent to an election (like Gerald Ford was).
It's totally a moot point because no one would ever try to do it, but it's an actual constitutional open question, AFAIK.
