Either that or really shallow and manipulative. (There came a point, I think, when the message went beyond "try to be nice to people and say what'll cheer them up" and into "say what they want to hear to power up your own S.Links". I think that point was Mamoru, actually. What I really wanted to say was "no you stupid douche, you're ruining your future and if your mother's a decent human being this will make her miserable", but what I had to say to max his S.Link was the opposite.)

On the other hand - hiding what one truly feels in order to save the world isn't exactly ignoble.

Sometimes, I wish we could know the real reason behind those answers that are the 'right' answers. The way I see it, some of those answers do look awful but it may also be because Minato has never seemed like the kind of guy to force his opinion onto anyone.
