I am glad you are there to protect people from pranks. I've not been in the SPN fandom in a while but I see stuff occasionally on Tumblr. I've never seen them do any 'extreme' pranks to guest stars who are only there once or twice. And the 'extreme' pranks are stupid shit between friends (like Jensen, Jared, Misha, the guy who plays Gabriel).

And of course they prefer acting with people who have a sense of humor. Everyone does.

I've been away from the fandom for a long time so I don't know anything about "pranks" but I was always annoying by the dumb homophobic "jokes" at cons. I mean, I get it, they're from Texas, so it's not exactly unexpected, but it's still stupid and douchey. And to be fair, I don't know if they still do that stuff because I haven't watched the show or been around the fandom in several years, but it always really bothered me.

well they also get bombarded with fans talking about their characters who are siblings having sex, and their wives get insulted by the fans who insist they're in a relationship.

I'm not even completely sure what you're talking about, I just mean stuff from a looooong time ago, before the wives were even around, where they were just telling random stories and one would decide that doing this over the top lisp and skipping around the stage with a bent wrist pretending to be "gay" was just SO HILARIOUS.

I wasn't sure what you meant and I probably shouldn't have made excuses. That really is awful.

(reminds me of an old rp partner who used to do the lisp for their 'gay impression. and it really bugged me but they thought it was hilarious)

I'm sure a lot of it is played up for all the conventions and interviews these guys have to do. I would probably have a shitload of distracting funny stories and video clips going if people kept asking me about imaginary buttsexin with my coworkers all the damn time.

I went to one of those things with a friend when I wasn't involved in any way with the fandom and didn't know how fucking weird they were. It was an experience.

Yeah, I would be really surprised if they weren't playing a lot of it up. They do so many conventions that it would be tough to have enough material otherwise.

Yeah, I cringe a little every time Misha talks about them (usually Jared I think) playing with his balls during a scene.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there an interview or con footage where they talked about the writers stopping writing scenes with Jared, Jensen, and Misha together at one point because it took too long to get the takes? So yeah, that seems like someone doesn't know when to quit joking and just do their jobs.

IDK but I remember a blooper from last season where Misha was literally pleading with them to chill because the scene was a big moment for him. So I could believe it.

So, what, they're enjoying themselves at work in a way that costs their employers more money? I mean, I'm sure their employer wishes they wouldn't, but I don't see why I should care.

it's a dick move to hinder your co-workers doing their own jobs, esp if a)you're friends with them or b)you have job security and they don't

I'm jealous that a simple beanie is enough for you to separate Jared from Sam. I can't really watch SPN without constantly hating Sam bc of Jared.

You hate Jared but not the other guys? Why? I'm just curious.

IDK what ayrt's reasons are but I've heard anecdotal stuff about Jared being a clueless kind of asshole, like the thing where he complained about a waitress on Twitter in a way that helped identify her and of course she got harassed by fans. It doesn't reflect nicely on Jensen because those two are so close and might seem up themselves together, but I've never heard anything like that about him.

I'm not a big Jared fan either because he does have a tendency to run off his mouth and say really cringy things that piss of queer fans. So yeah, "clueless kind of asshole" fits him well. I don't care about the personalities of actors like so many people do, so it doesn't hurt me much. I'm not going to be his friend or am being forced to interact with him because of a social obligation, so who he is personally means nothing to me. I only care about his acting and he can do that.

They both said and done things that seemed pretty clueless to me, but I've never heard any stories about Jensen being a gratuitous jerk the same way Jared has.

Not that I've gone looking. I enjoy the show, and their performances, but I have no real interest in the actors.
