The biological drive to have your "own" babies and the fact that nobody considers people's parenting motivations to be dubious when they would never consider adopting one that "wouldn't be theirs."

WTF is all the recent saltiness over babies on this comm??

nayrt and my thoughts, too. has a childfree comm somehow leaked here? Seems like ever since someone brought up a conversation about having kids, there's been several anons who have to disclaim every other comment with "I hate kids/babies".

Like the one the other day "I hate kids but my colleague's kid has cancer" or something like that. like wtf...

It's not like it's rare to not want kids.

nayrt - there is a difference between not wanting kids, and being a bitch about it, tbh.

AYRT

I don't see any bitchiness in the comment the anon I was referring to was replying to. It's not even strictly a comment about childlessness, just (as far as I can tell) about the phenomenon of people considering adopted children consolation prizes for people unable to have biological children. I think it's an unfair mischaracterization of that comment to claim it's "saltiness over babies."

Dude, there is a big problem with people considering adoption not valid and adopted kids as Not Really Counting. There's this narrative to a lot of media, too, about Happy Reunions Between Mother And Child when adoption happens and the child eventually returning to their REAL family and not the people caring for them until then.
