The human mind is great at categorizing. Often it is helpful: like it's a great help for memorisation, but often, when we rely on too quick and shallow characteristics, it's harmful. It's good to see certain expressions as warning signs, like "all of those... (group of people) are just like that... (something negative). Recognizing the pattern can be a bit of an antidote.
