Branagh's Henry V. I know, I know, it's about an unjust war. But it's such a lift when I'm feeling beleaguered.

Midsomer Murders - it seems strange to say this about a show where people get murdered every episode, but... I don't know, it's just corny and lighthearted enough where I find it comforting. The pretty village settings are also very soothing.

Quite Interesting - British panel show with weird facts and guests who score points by coming up with interesting, obscure facts. Lots of silly banter and unusual trivia.

Great British Bake Off (or Great British Baking Show as it's called in the U.S., I believe) - the best reality show baking competition ever. It's sweet, warm hearted and funny and people are nice to each other.

I find many British police shows comforting. Sometimes even if they have really disturbing material in them I still love the main characters and know they are on the job and after the bad guys so I like watching them. Also fewer gun battles which just annoy me.

I also like Regency romance novels when I'm in the right mood for them. They're stupid but they're often fun.
