People don't count the comics because most people who see Star Wars movies (which is a large swath of the human race, not just big Star Wars fans) don't read the comics. I'm not chasing down a bunch of supplementary material for a movie franchise I'm mostly only superficially interested in. The fact that they're canon means nothing. The movies need to stand on their own. I have no issue with Poe being OOC or inconsistent because I will just take what the movies give me, whether I like it or not, and not worry about how well that works with any supplementary material (or fanon).

THIS

And I shouldn't have to. Additional material is great, but it shouldn't affect the main material.

I don't think all viewers should chase down all supplementary material buti think that screen writers and directors should and at least rake the characterisations within into consideration if it's official supplementary material.

ayrt

That's an excellent point and I agree.

However, I'm not going to base my judgement of whether a character in a movie is OOC based on how the character was portrayed in a tie-in comic I didn't read and might not even be aware of.
