If you become a famous writer and some whackadoodle internet stalker pulls out screenshots of the crappy fanfic you wrote a decade ago, chances are very, very high they'd just be laughed out of the room. Unless you're writing something really, really out there - like RPF incestuous pedophilia fic levels of out there - no one, and I mean no one, will give a single wet fart about it.

Yup, writing fanfiction under a pseudonym is not a criminal offense (unless OP was writing RPF smut about 8 year olds, which is probably iffy territory).

Embarrassing? Maybe. A felony? No.

Even leaving aside questions of legality, it's just not something that most people are going to care about. Especially if OP is a genre writer, because it's becoming more and more common for genre writers to have some background in fan pursuits.

Also, it's screenshots with an A03 name attached. If OP's this freaked out by the possibility of anyone ever knowing about the weird shit they wrote, it wouldn't be that hard to disavow the fics and suggest the person bringing them out is just some internet crazy.

And since anyone who dredges up years-old fics to try to embarrass someone is, in fact, an internet crazy, it'd be an easy sell.

"Also, it's screenshots with an A03 name attached. "

Yeah. And it's not as if screenhots are hard to fake!
