Pansies and violas over some lily of the valley pips that may or may not come up; it doesn’t get cold enough for them here, but I love the smell, and if they don’t thrive the violas will at least be colorful.

A bababerry raspberry; they’re supposed to do better than most raspberries here—it’s not really cold enough for them either. A couple dahlia tubers; I’ve never grown dahlias before, have to see how they do.

And Princess, Thomcord, and Blueberry grapes; Thomcord and Blueberry are seedless Concord types and Princess is a white/green seedless table grape. I’ve got a bunch of different alpine strawberries starting from seed, but they’re too small to plant out. And I’m still trying to figure out where to put the two varieties of native California currant, they can supposedly take some shade so I may put them against a north-facing wall.

I want to try straw-bale gardening for veggies, where you fertilize the shit out of bales of straw and plant in them when they start to compost, but I have to figure out chicken-proof fencing first.
