(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:43 am (UTC)(link)and I tend to think that the fact that the main source for the story is, in fact, that exact kind of website corroborates that opinion a little bit

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:49 am (UTC)(link)And I skimmed the screenshots, and they seem like the exact kind of tumblr crap that corroborates websites like that.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:45 am (UTC)(link)1) in this case, the difference in the actress' appearance is mostly a result of the lighting
from which it follows that
2) any time someone complains about brownface, they're being ridiculous and absurd, and their complaints have no validity

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)2. People have been bitching about Alycia Debnam Carey "brownfacing" as Lexa, even though it's obvious there are in-verse reasons for her face looking as it does, and lighting + makeup are A Thing.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:35 am (UTC)(link)idk what the debacle you're bringing up is (was there a Chris Pratt secret on it?), but I will state:
1) Lighting can make one appear lighter or darker (fluorescent vs soft vs natural, etc.)
2) Hollywood is guilty of making white actors darker (for purposes other than "they're tan because they're always outside") , AND for making dark skinned actors look lighter. smh. it's distasteful, imo. This is not Duel in the Sun, there's no need to "darken up" the actress because she's playing a racially/ethnically mixed character. I'm sure you can find someone who fits the bill and can act .
