Ah, good old fashioned "Chris Pratt in Jurassic World" style discourse.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
I can't believe I missed this.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
https://theralphretort.com/jurassic-worlds-chris-pratt-called-out-for-brownface-by-tumblr-sjw-6018015/

That is the easiest thing I can find talking about it.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
What on god's earth is that site

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
It was the first thing that came up when I googled Chris Pratt blackface jurassic world. Just look at the Tumblr posts if it hurts you.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
It's good to have a nice, unbiased source here. One that's committed to important things, like reporting on issues like "SJW Insanity" and "Campus Crazies" and supporting Gamergate. I see no reason why these people would be untrustworthy.

Tt was the first thing that came up when I googled Chris Pratt blackface jurassic world. They have the screencaps. Isn't my fault the original poster deleted her post.

My personal opinion here is that this is a potted controversy blown all out of proportion by ridiculous people who are demonstrably obsessed with the evils of SJWS

and I tend to think that the fact that the main source for the story is, in fact, that exact kind of website corroborates that opinion a little bit

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
What???? I was making a joke about how some idiot think different lighting=brownface is the same kind post an idiot made about a JW years ago. I linked that site because it was the first thing that popped up with the screenshots. Sorry for rustling your jimmies.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
NAYRT

And I skimmed the screenshots, and they seem like the exact kind of tumblr crap that corroborates websites like that.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not saying the screenshots aren't ridiculous, I'm saying they're blown out of proportion

lmao

...yeah that's my only response.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. Just... wow.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Details? I have no clue what the secret is referring to.

I missed something.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Is Lena Luthor even one of the characters people are saying this about?

Re: I missed something.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
I think OP's argument is that

1) in this case, the difference in the actress' appearance is mostly a result of the lighting

from which it follows that

2) any time someone complains about brownface, they're being ridiculous and absurd, and their complaints have no validity

Re: I missed something.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe the more rational interpretation on 2 is "people are getting too worked up about decrying racism when there literally is none." Since the example images are obviously a white woman portrayed as a white woman under different lights.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-15 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Congratulations

you won the internet argument with your screenshots

here's your trophy

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
I don't understand this secret. Context, someone?

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
1. People literally claimed Chris Pratt was "brownfacing" when he *got a tan*

2. People have been bitching about Alycia Debnam Carey "brownfacing" as Lexa, even though it's obvious there are in-verse reasons for her face looking as it does, and lighting + makeup are A Thing.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I just like Katie McGrath. If you like her/have seen her, you know she's rather pale (not in an unhealthy way, mind you).

idk what the debacle you're bringing up is (was there a Chris Pratt secret on it?), but I will state:
1) Lighting can make one appear lighter or darker (fluorescent vs soft vs natural, etc.)
2) Hollywood is guilty of making white actors darker (for purposes other than "they're tan because they're always outside") , AND for making dark skinned actors look lighter. smh. it's distasteful, imo. This is not Duel in the Sun, there's no need to "darken up" the actress because she's playing a racially/ethnically mixed character. I'm sure you can find someone who fits the bill and can act .

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
People are seriously complaining about this?

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
Somebody in lighting and/or makeup didn't do their job in the consistency/continuity department.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-16 07:01 pm (UTC)(link)
or maybe different scenes call for different lightning and most people's brains can handle the mysterious color changes that happen in different lightning conditions.

like if a blue light shines on someone are you gonna complain it's a continuity error or what
