Fandoms

How many fandoms are you in? How many fandoms are you a fan of? How do you define being in a fandom?

I...I guess I wouldn't say I'm IN any fandoms. I'm not a consistent fanwork creator - I'm not even much of a consumer. If I can find someone who wants to talk about the the goings on of a show I'll do that but it's not like that pops up a lot despite having a ton of shows new and old that I watch.

Following a body of work and committing to watching/viewing/playing when new work is produced. Optionally engaging in discussion about work.

I'd consider myself more of a genre fan than a franchise fan. There are a handful of authors on my hot-list these days, and a few shows I'm watching through.

There are 3 shows/movies I'm fannish about, but I'm not in fandom right now. Meaning I don't read or write fic, talk to other fans, or check my tumblr dash. The negativity and criticism in fandom brings me down.

As a lurker, fucking loads, but as an active participant(writing fic/drawing art) maybe like 3?

I'm in a lot right now: Mad Men || Cheers || The Good Place || Talk Shows || SNL || Crazy Ex-Girlfriend || This Is Us || Stranger Things || The Office || Parks & Rec || 30 Rock || Old Hollywood

Fandom for me is blogging about it & writing fanfic.

For me, being a fan means that there are a number of things I like, and while I'll happy talk about them with anyone if the subject comes up, I am also content to enjoy them on my own if that means I don't have to deal with nasty people. Sometimes my enjoyment results in blog posts or fanworks.

Being "in a fandom" is actively participating in a specifically fannish space. I haven't done this as much the past few years/fandoms.

I'm not sure. I used to create fanworks for a lot of shows back in the day and was active on a lot of forums, but then life happened and I simply didn't have time for that. Now I have a bit more free time, but all the forums I was a part of are dead and I'm finding it difficult to dip my toes in the newer fannish spaces. I still consume fanworks, but I haven't created anything in years. I do love talking about my favorite ships and shows, but now I mainly talk with my friends and it's a little lonely because they're not as "fannish" as me.

I've been involved in a fair few, but I'm mostly lurking these days due to fandom drama. And Tumblr.

I can usually only be in one active fandom at a time. But I'm a fan of many different fandoms. Being in a fandom to me is producing fanworks and engaging with people in the fandom.
