I find Facebook dull and exhausting to keep up with. I'm only friends with people I've known offline first, like relatives and old college friends, and there's one or two people who are way too prolific about posting and it drowns out everyone else. There is this friend of mine from grad school who will post a link to every interesting artivle she reads or vidro she sees, but there's never any content in her post about her thoughts and reactions, and she does this in individual posts throughout the day rather than in a less frequent digest post. This is all mixed in with minutia about what she's making for dinner and crap, and meanwhile someone posted about giving birth to their first child and it's buried under all the junk posts from various people.

If everyone used Facebook for Christmas letter-level stuff, it would be a lot more pleasant and interesting. As it is, I only check it about once a month, never read everything my friends have posted, and only post myself a few times a year.
