I know of at least one instance where the stupid parents thought it was real funny, so, yeah, it was definitely at least partly their fault, and I don't like parents who let their kid hurt animals either.

I can't stand people like that, who think their kids' bad behaviors are funny. Then they're the first ones crying and saying they don't understand how their 'sweet' kid grew up to commit some horrible crime. -.-

I mean, kids are crazy and parents are supposed to steer them in the right direction. When a kid does something like hurt a person/animal, parents NEED to correct them. Sadly, usually, they don't. So yeah, kids aren't always the problem, it matters A LOT what their parents let them get away with. I've been trying to teach this to my sister - my nephew's mother - but she's stubborn - she's the kind of person to blame the pet not the kid for bad stuff going down. Which is my point - a lot of people, who are usually parents, are like that. -.-

Oh, god, this.

It's especially bad when they shrug off children abusing and torturing animals, because that's generally one of THE first major warning signs for future criminal behavior. If a kid can abuse an animal, it's only a matter of time before they'll turn their abuse to humans.

YES

I wish so many more people understood this!

Thiiiiiiiis. People who don't want to go through the trouble of teaching their kid empathy and decent behavior and are surprised that the kids grow up to be horrible teenagers and despicable human beings? Assholes.

Exactly.

Instead of blaming themselves, the parents point the finger at everyone else around them. They forget that for that one finger they point, they got at least three of their own pointing back at them.
