The shirtless Kylo scene with Rey being uncomfortable served absolutely no other literary purpose besides to shove some intended sexual tension between them. Like, there's no other way to read that scene, it was so forced in there.

And we still have one movie to go, so absolutely nothing was "shot down". Lol at this absolute refusal to believe that fiction would ever be daring enough to go the bad guy/good girl canon romance, that would be totally unprecedented, no way that would ever happen!

Shirtless Kylo could have also been used to show this avenue getting shut down.

Hmm, last time we had a shirtless scene, it lead to someone force choking his wife. Now there's a bad guy/good girl relationship. It went really really bad. Star Wars- and Disney- is not going to show it any other way.

NAYRT and Reylo gives me cringe whiplash, but there are tons of Reylo shippers arguing that Reylo is Padme/Anakin in reverse, where Kylo starts with force choking/torture, goes through marriage, lust, and ends in woobie puppy love. Blech. Apparently the fact that Padme would’ve tried to kill or otherwise incapacitated Vader if she’d first met him blowing up planets never crossed their minds. Or that if she’d instead tried to fuck him to the light side because she found him sexy, it would make her a horrible person.

lmao. They seriously believe Disney is going to portray that. Yeah, Disnay can get dark, but not that dark.

According to the writer/director, it was to establish that Rey and Kylo could actually SEE each other as opposed to just hear/sense through the Force.

Well, as someone who hates Reylo, it was very obviously meant to at least allude to romcom “oh no my nemesis is hot” bs. Because otherwise they would’ve just shown him, I dunno, shaving, and have her say “you missed a spot,” or something.
