139: Tennant ain't got nothin' on Tom Baker as far as quirkiness goes. Nothin'. As for being sad when he leaves, ummmm okay? Many will be sad, and a new Doctor will come and you will grow to love him just as well and the cycle will continue. As it always has.

157: She's not, Martha is AWESOME, everyone hated River Song, and Steven Moffatt can't ruin something that already fucking ruined itself. Get over yourself.

re: 157. I know, right. I don't get the logic behind the Doctor chasing after a 19 year old chavvy blonde when he's had so many other awesome companions. AND GUESS WHAT, HE'S HAD A LOT OF THEM.

157: I don't mind that people like Doctor/Rose or think that he loved her because he did. He clearly did. Hell, I dig me some Nine/Rose myself. But people need to recognize that she isn't his One and Only. And honestly, I agree she's not that great companionwise, and I think the only reason she had such a profound effect on him was directly related to timing. If he had met her pre-Time War, their relationship would have been much different and he wouldn't be nearly as invested in her as he is. It wasn't because she was OMG THE BEST, it was because she just happened to be the first person he connected with after he lost everything. It could have been anyone.
And... really, people he falls in love with other women both during and post!Rose's era. I mean. Really now.

Yeah, totally. She was pretty cool and had the attributes companions should have. I did like her at one time. However the notion that she's his "One True Love" is ridiculous, and she did enter his life at a vulnerable time. But another thing about the Rose thing is RTD is on some frickin bad crack that makes him think bad fanfic is great as an episode of Doctor Who.

And as far as awesome companions go, it really bothers me all the shit that Martha went through for him. She had to protect him and be his maid in 1913 and see him with another woman, she got stuck in 1969 and had to support him again, her family was imprisoned by a maniac and she had to spend a year walking around the Earth telling everyone how awesome he is even though he treated her like shit because she's not Rose and people have the nerve to say she wasn't as good as Rose. She went through a hell of a lot more than Rose did physically and emotionally and she still came out of it pretty awesome. I'm not saying that Martha should be his one true love instead of Rose but I'm saying that she deserves much more respect than she gets.

(also, I didn't hate River Song either. I figured the Rose-haters would feel justified with her, because hey look, Rosefen have to admit that the Doctor omg loves other people!!! I was wrong, but I still like her.)


I just wish Martha would've had some flaws fercryinoutloud. Rose, Donna, Jack, Sarah Jane, and Mickey have 'em in spades, and they make them such interesting character. She had nothing to get over or improve upon. Maybe that was the point, I guess--instead of making her better, like he did to everyone else, he made her a soldier.
