It's not about that scene, I just used that scene to show it was Angel. If I say WHO everyone on my friends list will know it's me and laugh at me.

I want to save Wesley, which of course involves saving Fred. Except then I'd have less chance to have sex with him.

Well, you'd just have to utilize the "Bottomless Pit" Theory.

That's how I was planning on getting to the alternate universe, yes; but I'd still have the problem of saving Fred vs sex with emo Wes.

Well... you would just have to weigh the "pros and cons." I mean, yes.. Saving Fred would be nice. But, having emo sex with Wes is pretty up there for you. PLUS, with the later you'd get the bonus of Illyria (Who, lets face it, is HAWT).

But it would be morally wrong! And I don't want him to suffer!

Is there a way that I could just BECOME Fred, and of course know about the sarcophagus and avoid it? Does the theory allow for that option?

The "Bottomless Pit" Theory can only get you into the Angelverse. HOWEVER, I do recall several different spells in Buffy/Angel that allow you to switch souls, take over her body, etc.
