Tony stans can be really annoying. There's having a different opinion of which side was right or wrong in Civil War and then there's massively misunderstanding the argument.

Like Steve stans are any better, especially the Stucky ones. *eyeroll*

If you can bring up any posts that completely distort or ignore canon as much as Tony and Loki stans do, I'd love to see it.

Dear god did I step into a portal to tumblr

(Anonymous) 2018-02-22 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
+infinity

And to be honest, I've seen a lot more all-or-nothing on types on the Team Tony side of things.

Yeah, it's pretty dumb to conflate what Loki did with what Bucky did.

Loki knew full well what he was doing and, in most cases, seemed to enjoy fucking people up/over.

Bucky as the Winter Soldier had no control over his own actions. Think of him more like a UAV being 'piloted' by someone who knew the magic words than by a person killing people for his own benefit and out of his own desire.

That said, I could still see Tony's head explode considering how he did act in CW. But I kind of lost a lot of respect for the character anyway when he tried to convince Steve to just sign the Accords and they could 'work out the details later' or however he said it. Because either Tony is suddenly revealed to be a particularly idiotic businessman (you don't sign legal documents without 'working out the details' first) or he has absolutely no respect for the intelligence of those he's saving the world with. Neither speaks well of him.

Considering he decided that a government organization would totally be trustworthy after finding out the past 2-3 government organizations they worked with were evil....

Well, Tony rivals Reed Richards as the most dangerous genius in the universe. But the only characters who were not written as complete idiots in CW were, curiously enough, the only two characters to carry over to Black Panther.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-22 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Not curious at all. Unless you wanted another solo character movie that is just a mini-avengers movie.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-22 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
I get liking Loki for being a cool magic-having villain guy, and Tony for being rich and doing whatever the fuck he wants. He's the Marvel version of Batman, and I enjoy Batman.

I don't think either of them are blameless little precious cupcakes though, so I think it's fucking weird when people like them for being that. I see a lot of "wah. everyone is mean to tony! he deserves hugs." and "they lied to loki about who he was so of course he did that but he didn't really want to kill people!"

(Anonymous) 2018-02-22 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
I love Loki. He was the character I read about the most back in the day. But people who excuse his murders because he was lied to about being adopted are insane.

Trust me as a Loki fan of the 'I like him because he's a shithead' variety I got fed up with a majority the fanbase around him very, very quickly.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-22 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I would actually be interested in more meta about him being a manipulative dick and stirring up shit for the fun of it. Maybe learning how to influence Asgardian politics and cause disputes from an early age. I'm also interested in his relationship with Frigga, because he did genuinely seem to care for her.

Fandom is all repressed incestuous longing, poor innocent baby loki being bullied by the big kids, and daddy issues as far as the eye can see though. Zero interest.

I've not seen many hardcore Tony-fans, simply because I don't go poking around in his corner of fandom, but the hardcore Loki-fans were... something else. I can still remember the oodles of meta about how Loki was a poor brainwashed baby because the glow from his stick reflected in his eyes a bit in one scene in Avengers, and accusing Thor of being abusive to him despite there being no canon evidence for this at all.

But from what I've gathered from being in fandom for many years is that the hardcore-fans of a character are pretty much always batshit and seem to be consuming a completely different canon from everyone else.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-22 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
So...everyone should just be okay with Bucky killing cops and civilians when he *wasn't* acting under brainwashing then? Or Steve, for that matter?

I wouldn't work with either of them, frankly.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-22 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Way to miss the point, anon.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-22 11:18 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, I think they nailed it.

You mean while they were trying to get away from the police (and Black Panther) coming at Bucky with a shoot to kill order? Plus was it confirmed in canon that anyone died in that debacle or are we assuming based on reality and not movie violence rules?

(Anonymous) 2018-02-22 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn, Stucky stans try so hard to justify Steve’s terrible decision-making in that movie. That was literally half the (badly made, god that movie was awful) point of the movie.

What civilians or cops did he kill when not under brainwashing? Or Steve? Excluding the special forces that were trying to kill a fleeing fugitive on sight.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-22 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
Tony and Loki woobifiers are the goddamn worst.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-23 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Why do Bucky stans think they're superior just because their fave "uwu did nothing wrong"? You're not superior just because you have a fictional guilt free woobie.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-23 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Where is that even happening in this thread?

I like Loki BECAUSE he's an asshole and selfish, it makes him interesting.

I like Tony BECAUSE he's flawed and emotional and reactionary, so his actions don't always make sense and can lead him to making horrible choices.

I don't see the point in comparing the two, they both suck as people for different reasons, but as characters, they're so much better to me than ones that never waver.

Even on that note, I love Steve BECAUSE he struggles to be that never wavering justice, but it's clear he has his own biases. They are just not on the same wavelength as the two above.

TL;DR I like flaws. :D
