[Xena: Warrior Princess]

I wish I would've seen this show when I was young, but never caught it. Is it still good or pretty dated to watch now, as an adult, if I've never seen an episode and so will have zero nostalgia-bias?

I think it still holds up. I watched it as a kid, but I was too young to keep many solid memories of it, so when I watched it as an adult it felt mostly new to me and was still very enjoyable.

That's good to hear! Do you happen to know where one can (legally) watch it? Is it on any of the big streaming sites?

I think it's on Hulu at the moment.

Honestly? It's fairly dated. Not unwatchable by any means, but you have to be OK with cheesy 90s TV style and pace and storytelling, I think.

I think that really depends on how much you like low budget, fairly camp fantasy. It's been a while since I've watched it but it's definitely going to be dated as well. But if you're generally okay with 90s TV, it probably won't be that big of a deal for you.

Okay. So. I liked Legend of the Seeker. That's low budget, camp fantasy. But I watched the first episode of Hercules and didn't like it. And then I saw the first episode of Xena and was meh about it. But I've heard it gets a lot better?

(Anonymous) 2018-02-25 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
For the most part, Xena was better than Hercules. And both series took a few episodes to hit their stride.

(Anonymous) 2018-02-25 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Xena is definitely better than Hercules.

But it's not just that Xena is camp, it's also extremely 90s. And that's its own thing. Legend Of The Seeker is camp and low budget but it's still shot and written and paced in a different way than Xena because television evolved a lot over the years.

But it's definitely worth giving it a try!

Isn't "Galentines Day" the "gal pals" version of Valentines Day? Poor her. I can tell she really does support the ship, but I bet she got attacked and called a lesbian-erasing homophobe for that tweet.

Yay, you found it! I went looking for that tweet and couldn't find it for some reason.

LOL... sure. Did you forget that in real, non-fandom, non-tumblr life, SJW boogeymen aren't really that scary?
