Anyone participating in this Dratini galore?

I read that as "Pokemon Go Communist Day".

I read the post as 'Dratini gore' and thought "Well that sure has changed."

Dratini is the bourgeoisie and must be culled.

Got my first Dratini AND shiny today. Sadly, it is too cold for me to go on very long walks.

I just got back! I live in a city so doing a big long loop for an hour or two, stopping for coffee along the way, was really fun. I got TONS of Dratinis! Not very many high stat ones, though, but I think I bagged something like six Shiny Dratini. However, I'm pretty sure something is bugged, because none of them look Shiny, they are identical to the non-Shiny Dratini. I only know they are Shiny because of the sparkles.

Too bad they are all super low stat or average, though. Maybe I'll evolve one for fun, but not really much good.

I caught several and with my previous Dratini catches I had enough dratini candy to evolve the strongest one into Dragonair. I'm pretty satisfied.

Unfortunately it was a total downpour all day today and I have bronchitis right now so I couldn't go hunting, which sucks because Dratini is one of my favorite pokemon ): I did manage to catch one while at the doctor's office though!

I'm majorly bummed that it only lasted for three hours. :( I was at work so I only got to go out and hunt for fifteen minutes on my break.

Yeah, I don't know why it's only three hours! I get that Pokemon Go is trying to make this a very "social" app, so making a shorter window means more congestion over a single period. But c'mon, most people are still solo players and since the hype is well and gone, the chance of running into someone else playing is not very high unless you're in a big city (and even then, it's a right place/right time thing). Three hours just didn't feel long enough to allow enough people to have a chance.

I also get Dratini is supposed to be a rare Pokemon, but surely a 9am to 5pm thing wouldn't have made all that difference? Pikachu last month is a Pokemon I'm absolutely sick of, all the events are Pikachu-themed and I have so many of them. But that one was only three hours, too.

yeah, a three-hour window seems counterproductive because that makes it a lot harder for people to get together. i mean, i do live in a big city and we have a huge, active raid scene, but even then it can still be tough to get enough people together at the same time for things. a lot of raids end up being flops because we might be able to get 2-4 people who can go to any particular raid at any given time, but you need more than that for legendaries. and this is in a discord channel with over 200 people!

making it something like 9-5 would allow people to join in on their own schedule and would probably make for a more active social scene than trying to cram it all into the span of three hours, especially since (at least around here) a lot of players are adults with jobs and responsibilities.

There was an event?

They just started doing monthly "community day" events. Looks like pretty much the last Saturday of every month, a special event-exclusive Pokemon will appear for a few hours in the afternoon. The idea is that it will encourage everyone to go out Pokemon hunting at the same time and you can meet other PoGo players. Last month, it was a Pikachu that knew the Surf attack. This month, Dratini, and all Dragonites who were caught or evolved during the period would know Draco Meteor. Plus, the huge amount of spawns mean you're more likely to bag Shiny versions.

Ooooh. Do they let you know at what times they will spawn the pokemon?
