Yeah, that I'd heard of, and gagged about. I followed much of the craziness; it's been a long time since I voted in the Hugos, but someone gaming the system in my original fandom (SF fandom FTW!) really pissed me off. You gave me a good calendrical (I know it's not a word, but I declare it to be, nonetheless) reason for not assuming that TGE was some sort of protest win, rather than an appreciation of its own characteristics.
