For me, it's much less about characterization and much more about the style of storytelling and plotting. But it's a similar feeling of just... having a hard time caring about it.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel, yeah. His characterization is just underwhelming to me. RTD's plots were bonkers but I could always enjoy them thanks to the characters... meanwhile Moffat's plots are often too convoluted to actually be fun and the characters are just there to serve the plot more often than not.

Oh well. Hopefully next season will be good!

Yeah same. It just grew into utter apathy. The next series has me intrigued just because there's so much newness going on that anything has to be more interesting!

I find him merely okay. He wrote good episodes and shit arcs. I don't get either the hate or the love, though I enjoyed his run because the showrunner isn't everything.

It's "Guy at the top gets all the blame" syndrome for the most part.

Plus, sometimes Moffat's has said a couple of offensive things that have pissed off certain segments of fans (no Moffat, Rose Tyler is NOT a 'clingy ex - girlfriend' to be callously dumped on a beach like yesterday's news).

See, Rose and all her accompanying crap with the Doctor is what drove me away from watching Nu!Who, so I'm glad he thinks this way.

Rose was a terrible character. And RTD's obsession with making her omgsospecial didn't help.

But Moffat's obsession with making Amy omgsospecial and then Clara omgsospecial made for much, much better characers and storylines.

I thought season 5 was really awesome (probably my fav together with season 4) and season 6 was sort of okay? But then it fizzled out for me. I only watched the River Christmas special, because I love River (I vote for her to come back and kiss 13 too, just because she should kiss every Doctor at least once imo).
Idk I don't particularly blame or hate Moffat (or RTD, tho I had my fair share of problems with him, too). *shrugs*

You're not alone, and you're a good deal more polite about your indifference - and clear about your reasons - than a lot of Moffat haters. Go, you!

Me, I'm one of the dreaded Moffat lovers, whose love of the program grew by ridiculous amounts once he became showrunner. I understand all his faults and weaknesses, and still love his tenure. I'm a cheap date, I suppose. But because I love Who, I'm excited to see what Chibnall can do - and that's saying something because I really really didn't like a lot of his writing for Who and Torchwood.

Your loss, (wo)man. Moffat era has some of my favorite characters. 11th, 12th, Amy, Rory, Vastra, Jenny, Bill... were all awesome, and so many other minor characters were pretty great too!
