What I mean is that...the way Vic voices his anti-yaoi opinions, he comes across as being a little, well...arrogant, and "I-Know-The-Right-Way-And-Nobody-Could-Possibly-Disagree-With-Me". It's one thing to take an issue with Roy/Ed or Ed/Al, but...if from what I've heard is true, he's also insisted that both Shinji/Kaworu from Evangelion and Hikaru/Kaoru from Ouran are impossible, too, when both shows clearly have subtext. It's not that I even mind his opinion, as much as he just comes across as being arrogant and ignorant to fangirls--he's putting his foot in his mouth, so I can understand why people's kneejerk reaction is to trash him.

That being said, I think he'll do a fine job as Tamaki. He obviously loves the character (which I think is important), and I think he's a good actor with talent that fits Tamaki well. It's just I can understand why people would dislike him.

What I don't get is why the rest of the cast is getting trashed so much, particularly Greg Ayres who is not only a fanboy, but...a yaoi fanboy! We haven't heard the actual dub yet, and as far as I know there's no personal reasons involved to dislike them either...it just seems to be trashing on dub actors for the sake of...trashing on dub actors. That's what irks me the most.

I don't mind who gets what roles.

My only desire is that Ouran be voiced well. Whatever the casting is? I don't and won't judge until I actually hear the dub.

As long as Tamaki's voice sounds like a great Tamaki voice, yay. I don't care about the person behind the acting's views, whether they're yay about the gay or not, etc. I just care that people do the job well. I wouldn't be extra yay for a yaoi fanboy, but I'm not pro- or anti-Greg Ayres for Tamaki.

Same for Haruhi's voice and anyone else's in that show.

I care about the acting, too. I'm not saying that Vic shouldn't have been cast as Tamaki or he'll do a horrible job. I just can understand why people would react with 'Oh no, not him again'. (And, in fact, I used to be almost as anti-yaoi as Vic, and I still only ship a handful of yaoi pairings when compared to all the het I ship.) My point about Greg Ayres is that he's a fan himself and really doesn't say things like Vic does, so people AFIK aren't having just a kneejerk reaction of "oh, him, he's that jerk". Unless it's an issue with his anti-fansub panels.

I'm sure the dub will turn out okay - I usually prefer dubs over subs anyway! XD

There's subtext between Hikaru and Kaoru... if you completely ignore the fact they only act as if they are in love for the girls who visit the Host Club.

I dunno, I think that Hikaru and Kaoru's actual relationship with each other when they're alone/not acting is way more subtexty than their act. Their act just makes me laugh. XD

I think it can be taken either way. At least one, if not both, seem to be attracted to Haruhi, too, so I'd say that at the very least they're probably bisexual instead of purely gay...buuut, I think there's valid arguments to be made for either side. In any case, the show obviously teasingly pokes fun at yaoi fangirls and attracts to them to the show, and Vic would maybe be out of line to say things like (if what I've heard is true) "I know Tamaki, and he wouldn't allow anything like that to happen in the Host Club." Obviously, he's perfectly fine with the twins putting on an act for the fangirls at the very least.

(I'm saying this as someone who doesn't ship them, BTW)

I'd think Tamaki would be perfectly fine with whatever goes on as long as his friends are happy? O.o

Vic kinda annoys me for that reason. It's not like he's the creator of the series, why does he think he has authority over what his characters think/do?
