THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. That's the thing that bugs me most about the Doctor/Rose ship. You can ship Nine/Rose (sure) or Ten/Rose (don't see it, but whatever floats your boat), but if you ship Doctor/Rose, that means that they're together in every single incarnation.

I prefer the Rose/Nine pairing because they were more like buddies and how the Doctor has always acted with his companions. It was like a Sarah Jane/Four BFFs kind of relationship.

The Rose/Ten thing with them having this epic love story made me want to gag myself.

Odd, I figured it was pretty much an epic love story back with Nine as well.

I think the romance thing changed with Ten, not so much because "hey, he's pretty, now Rose likes him!" but because one of Ten's personality traits that the other Doctors didn't quite share is that he, well, he's a bit more comfortable with his sexuality. Just because none of the other Doctors were before doesn't mean it's COMPLETELY WRONG AND HORRIBLE! like it seems to be.

That said, I liked it better with Nine, but that's because I loved their push-and-pull.

That's my issue with Ten/Rose, is that Nine/Rose felt like a love story, just... two people falling in love, but Ten/Rose felt like they were trying to shove this "they're meant for each other forever and ever and ever to enternity" stuff down our throats and I didn't really buy it, especially because to me it sort of seems disrespectful to the 40 year history of the show. But, again... whatever floats your boat. *hides from crazy shippers who will find and eat her*

Yeah, see, where is this thing about "crazy, intolerant shippers" coming from, anyway? From what I've seen, shippers are loads better behaved than a lot of the purists who treat us like crap and spew for vitriol left and right. I'm sure there's a few annoying ones, but I think it's a fair disproportionate number.

I do agree with your reasoning about Nine/Rose vs Ten/Rose. Never thought of it like that, but it's true.

I suppose this is not the correct place to point this out, but I shipped Four/Sarah Jane back when it was first run in the States. Still do.
