166. Hey could someone give me the lowdown about what Vic Mignogna did to get everyone's dick in a twist? The haet just seems to be assumed and I have a feeling I missed a memo somewhere.

Apparently he has made anti-yaoi statements, and he denies the existence of subext, like ShinjixKaworu, HikaruxKaoru.

*shrugs*

Anyway, I don´t care about the dub cast at all. I won´t watch Ouran in English. =P

Somehow, I knew that it would be exactly that.

though the anti-yaoi statements annoy me, i just think he's the biggest douche in the universe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Biggest_Douche_in_the_Universe).

The subtext between Hikaru and Kaoru is only there if you ignore the fact they only ACT gay for each other to make the girls who visit the club squeal.

Sorta what the person above me said, except it got a lot more surreal than that. Some people sarcastically took to calling him the Anime Pope, since as soon as he got the part for Fay from Tsubasa Chronicles he went around saying that he and Fay were both totally straight and all the fans of Kurogane/Fay or any other slash pairing were insulting the creator's original work. (Which, since lol Clamp and their subtext and canon gay...) And then, making even more people boggle, he revealed that he didn't actually think that knowing anything about the manga is necessary when you're voicing for an anime because it's "a completely different canon" and therefore the original source material means nothing when it comes to the anime version.

I kinda stopped paying attention to it about when I found out he was making it a habit to make a speech about how horrible and bad and wrong shounen-ai/yaoi/slash pairings are in pretty much every single one of his panels, and the fact that a lot of his fanbrats (I don't mean his fans, I just mean his fanbrats, as exhibited by the quote) were saying things like "omg, I used to like this stuff, but Vic totally opened my eyes as to how wrong it is!" Speaking as a lesbian AND a fan of some of his actual voice acting work, I have no interest in ever going to one of his panels or meeting him or anything of the sort. And if I run into him and he opens his mouth with his homophobia I plan on kicking him in the shin. XD; I'M MOSTLY JOKING.

Sorry for the TL;DR just wanted to explain why some of us more sane fans think he's really sort of a douchebag. I personally do love some of his voicework, and think a lot of it is okay/decent, but much like Crispin Freeman and Mona Marshall he really only has one voice he uses (though Crispin does have one or two WTF HE VOICED THAT? roles XD) and I've noticed this depressing tendency recently for him to get cast in roles where I don't think his voice fits the character at all. I do not have much hope for his job as Tamaki, or as Viral from Gurren Lagann. Here's hoping he'll surprise me. (:

Well, I thought I heard something the other day about ADV losing a lot of titles or something... or I might be mixing that up with something completely different. STILL. I CAN HOPE. And otherwise hope for the best, even with Vic, blah.

i'm not too sure about the broadcast, because i haven't really been paying much attention and i haven't heard any proof of it yet.

but bandai's first volume of ttgl (http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/jf0cNd=7E0Js=XlxHJ/browse/item/80021/4/0/0) came out a few days ago so i'd say that one might be solid.
