He already did. Kevin Clash did the "come out as gay to deflect from sexual abuse allegations" years before Kevin Spacey. The first victim says he was 16 when Clash began an inappropriate relationship with him; Clash says it wasn't physical until the victim was of age, and was consensual. Three other young men (of age) came forward as well saying they had inappropriate sexual contact from Clash as well, and attempted to sue but the statute of limitations had passed.

But Muppeteers aren't given the scrutiny of A-list stars, and it was 2012-13 when all this was revealed, so everyone forgets that the longest-tenured Elmo may have molested some boys.
