It made me go watch the rest of the major MCU films and sadly have to conclude that none of them lived up to it, so.

Yeah. I agree.

It's funny how the best Marvel movies are the ones where they let good directors make the movies they want to make, not the ones that are huge messes of continuity

The soundtrack was actually the one thing that disappointed me about this movie. Other than the Led Zeppelin song they used, the rest of the music was not good at all to me. But everything else was just about perfect.

Nah, it fits Thor and could fit GOTG. But not the others.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-02 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't fit Thor. Or at least Waititi doesn't.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-02 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
i'm glad to see someone else with this opinion. i was starting to feel like i was going crazy.

I thought it was the third best theatrical Thor movie

(Anonymous) 2018-03-05 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
You're definitely not alone :)

(Anonymous) 2018-03-02 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
I liked Ragnarok and liked the '80s metal/Jack Kirby weirdness vibe that Waititi gave the movie, but I can see how that might not work for everyone.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-05 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. It was an entertaining movie, but I'm not sure I'll ever watch it again. It really doesn't fit with the other Thor movies (I'll probably get grief for this, but I preferred the first 2 movies over this one).

(Anonymous) 2018-03-02 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Nah.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-02 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't watched T:R yet but I really enjoyed GOTG2? And the music too.

I just watched this last night, so this secret gives me an excuse to say my opinion!

It had absolutely hilarious moments and it was fun to see Hulk and Thor work together. I like Thor's character and Loki is all right. But the movie got really really psychedelic for me. The whole Sakaar bit was just a little too nuts.

I hated the Valkyrie. I think there had been previous wank here about her so I'm sad I missed f!s's consensus about her, but like, she was a slaver who sold people to die gruesome deaths in gladiatorial combat? And because Thor finds out she used to be a Valkyrie - and somehow losing her comrades to Hela excuses this - he suddenly wants to bone her? Man, she sucked.

I also hate characters like Jane and Sif just being unmentioned or written out in one line, but I suppose that's what happens when actors just quit. Still, boo for unresolved storylines.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-02 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
They definitely skimmed over the whole "selling people to their deaths as gladiator slaves" thing and it WAS pretty weird. I'm hoping they explore it a bit more later but I won't hold my breath. MCU isn't very good at these types of character backstory moments.

Sif would just have been killed off to make Hela look better, so I’ve got no problem with her just not being mentioned.

Personally, part of me really hopes the next movie opens by destroying Sakaar and killing off Valkyrie within her first few minutes on screen just to make the villain look badass. A bit of quid pro quo.

Re: Valkyrie. The actress who played her was good, and I would enjoy seeing her in other movies. But....*hastily constructs a tomato shield*, I really wasn't that impressed by the character. I got the impression that I was supposed to think she was really cool and badass, but she fell flat for me

It was a good movie and I enjoyed it... but I'm still salty af about his haircut. It's a stupid, petty thing but goddammit, give him back his hair.

Yes. And he didn't want his hair cut. So why wouldn't he regrow his hair? Yet he still has this stupid haircut in the Avengers 3 trailer.

(Anonymous) 2018-03-02 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
Presumably that happens straight away, given the ending of Ragnarok?

(Anonymous) 2018-03-02 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, some of the credit for that "aawesomely 80s feel" has to go to Mark Mothersbaugh. Love that guy.

Kind of like how John Williams deserves some of Spielberg's Oscars :x

This was my favorite MCU movie, too, but this is coming from someone who was not previously a fan of Thor, was meh on the first two Thor movies, and isn't much of an MCU fan in general. Maybe wacky 80s space adventures were what I needed to like the MCU more.
