I love heels. I can't wear them. Every time I try I regret it because of the combination of foot/back problems and being overweight. Even chunky heels and wedges hurt. Actually, most shoes that aren't my sneakers end up hurting even when I put orthotics in them. And yet, when I'm feeling particularly down about myself and want to feel pretty, my go to is heels (well, heels and corsets).

Heeled boots in particular are the best, though horribly uncomfortable to me. They just make me feel like I'd fit in with my fandoms, and also sexy and tall and powerful. My goal is to someday own a pair of knee high boots that actually fit (super wide calves).

It always makes me sad when I see shoes I like that I can never wear. I want to wear heels. I'm working on losing the weight, but the foot/back issues aren't going to just go away.

Anything under 1" or over 2½" hurts. Otherwise, gimme all the heels!

They all hurt me. I have to wear my sneakers or padded sandles most of the time, and flats when I need fancier shoes.

I can't wear heels for a long time either. My hypermobile hips roll out of place in them. But I have to grin and bear it for work sometimes.

Are you a stripper?

Some workplaces require women to wear heels, especially if they'll meet customers.

Is that even legal? Like, I understand dress codes in the sense of 'we wear black pants and white shirts' but how can they dictate that your shoes have heels? And what's the reasoning behind it?

In women's fashion, "formal" means a shoe with a heel. Welcome to business formal. They can also dictate what shoes the men can wear, but heels stopped being an official part of men's formal wear sometime in the 18th century.

I have a pair of heel boots (not too long or tall) that I fucking adore. But anything that’s not tennis or runner shoes makes my knees (especially the left) ache and stiffen to 7th heaven. Stupid fucking injuries.

I hear you. In my teens I loved wearing heels. As grew older so did my weight, and now I haven't worn heels in about 5 or 6 years.
