Well, we were talking about ice dancing pairs originally. So, for example, Virtue and Moir were paired when he was 10 and she was 8. In the US, most pair skaters start out in individuals, so they are older when they move to pairs. Probably not coincidentally, dating and marriage are a lot more common in pairs than in ice dancing. For example, the US pair that went to Pyeongchang are a married couple, and dating (and breaking up) is rampant among the ranks. I think Canada is probably similar. Not sure about Europe -- I think a couple of countries had married ice dancer couples.

Eh, Virtue and Moir are kind of unique for being together for 20+ years (despite the best efforts of Skate Canada). Ice dance partners now move around as much as pairs do. Just using the U.S. Olympians as examples: the Shibutanis are siblings, but the other two ice dance couples have dated. Madison Chock and Evan Bates are currently a couple (started skating together when they were ~19 And 21). Madison Hubbell skated with her brother until she was 20, then partnered with Zachary Donahue (also 20 at the time). They dated, broke up, and are currently sharing a house and dating the Spain dance team that they also train with.

(Sorry to get all wordy on you, but I wasn't kidding about ice dance being insular.)
