I'm not in the Star Wars fandom, so this is a bit of a generalized comment.

I always find it hilarious when antis point out that a relationship is messed up as a reason not to ship it, when that is exactly the reason some people ship it at all.

SA

Also, I hate it when people represent messed up relationships as fluffy and adorable. Talk about extreme OOC.

To be fair, people manage to write every kind of relationship as somehow OOC, whether it's canonically messed up ships as fluffy or canonically fluffy ships as messed up. I think sometimes they just think the two characters are hot and don't care about the canon personalities/dynamic, preferring to just write the characters they think are hottest with the dynamic they think is hottest.

I do believe in people being free to ship how they want. But I stay way far away from fluffy fics of messed up relationships. Even with my OTP, while I see them as genuinely in love, they are still villains, and the fics that completely ignore that bother me.

But Kylux? Never in a million years would either of them be remotely fluffy. I've never actually been into hate sex until this ship. But somehow, they make it hot, and suddenly a trope that I usually don't enjoy is the best thing ever.

Yup. Although, I'm not a fan at all of unhealthy, messed up relationships being portrayed as all sweetness and light and gumdrops. But fucked up relationships are often a lot of fun. I ship Kylux because it is really messed up. Kylo is self-loathing and full of issues. Hux is a space NAZI who hates his new boss and has control issues (as in doesn't like giving it up to anyone). There are so many ways this makes for a fun ship. True love? Not a chance? Hot, kinky sex? You bet.
