I just realized that something really simple and brief that happened the other week was almost certainly a near-death experience, and I don’t know how I feel about that. I don’t think I’m anxious about it right now. I do think I’m anxious about the possibility that I’ll feel anxious about it later. All I can do is hope I won’t.

Well what happened???

Almost took my meds twice because I forgot I’d already taken them that evening. With some of the doses I’m on, that would have been really bad.

Use a pill reminder case, then you can tell at a glance if you've taken it. I'm glad you're okay!

I did, that's what stopped me. I didn't remember taking them, but the day's compartment was empty.

It's okay to be anxious about something like that if it comes.

The first winter I started driving I was on my way to work (still in training on weekends) and the way I drove to work had this massive downhill that hadn't been salted. I had no traction and my car just kept going. Luckily I wasn't going too fast but I did end up on the curb pressed against the guardrail at the bottom (which was a set of lights).

It wasn't until after someone helped me get out of the snowdrift and I was back on my way to work that it hit me that if that rail hadn't been there I could have gone right over the cliff of the ravine there and I just started bawling.

It's a pretty reasonable reaction, to be honest.
