it never gets better, anon. fandom's constant prequel-bashing and snooty EU-is-holy attitude made me hate Star Wars after being a prominent fic-writer in the fandom.

get out while you can. distance yourself from meta and stick to fanworks, with liberal use of tags to weed out hate-fic and ship-bashing.

I do my utmost to only follow positive blogs. Every now & again I see whining (honestly, it's almost entirely on Facebook) & I just scroll past it. What I'm saying is that I rarely see the hate, but it still makes me angry, so I get where you're coming from.

The happiest time of my life was during the OT. Not because it was "better" somehow than the later movies, but because it was so easy to avoid the batshittery in the dark corners, and people in general were more laid back and less confrontational about their pet theories. Discussions were fascinating because no one was so invested as they are today.

Now it's the internet.. so I just stay away from Star Wars blogs, sites, posts other than a few close friends.

I am not in this fandom (but have lots of friends/acquaintances in it), but it's funny how completely seriously these two movies are taken. There's at least one "Reylo is abusive and evil and if you like it you're literal SATAN and support abuse IRL!!!11!!1!ONE!!!1" post on my dash every day. Lol no. It's fiction. And yep, he's a bad guy. A REALLY bad guy. Kinda like his grampa was. And she's an innocent, good girl. THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT SO HOT, SHARON.

I constantly find the opposite. The Reylo shippers go on and on about their ship, to the extent that it becomes annoying. I don't think the ship is abusive or evil in any way. Infact, I find Reylo shippers are generally not open to anyone having an alternative interpretation to TLJ, as I do ie; I don't want Reylo to be canon, because I think that's very clique and the characters (Rey in particular) are more complex than 'saving the bad boy'. To me, TLJ made it clear that Rey has 'moved past' him. She can't save him. He can only save (or not) himself.

As for original OP, I agree. I really liked TLJ, for example, and am sick of people bashing it. I did (initially) love Mr Plinkett, famous for their indepth takedowns of the prequels, but have gradually gone off them, as they are bitter and just want to crap on fans enjoying things. I also, OP, am getting tired of people putting down SW. Just enjoy or not!

Oh, believe me, we get that. Rey's whole arc was her trying to get Luke and then Ben to help the Resistance, until she realized she could do it herself.

We just also like to think that they are in love things aren't permanently over between them.

I don't see Reylo shipping as the end all be all sign of someone's total character, but they do get annoying in bringing their gripes about the antis into other spaces.

Agreed. I enjoyed the The Last Jedi, but it has its flaws, mainly the treatment of Luke Skywalker. I can understand fans being upset about it.

So by ~positive spaces~ you mean general tags on tumblr etc as well? Because it's kind of ridiculous to expect people to just use a general movie tag for gushing and fangirling and nothing else.
Also, you can filter tags by now.

It's really funny to me that having a different opinion is apparently such a difficult concept for some people that everyone not a 100 % positive about a thing is an anti.
I bet you also use "trigger" for things that make you vaguely uncomfortable.
