Places like food trucks, delis, coffee shops, and some fast food places (but usually not chains like MacDonald's) may have a tip jar where you can just throw in a dollar or your change from your purchase. There's not set percentage you need to tip and it's optional. Tipping a percentage of the bill is for restaurants with waitstaff. This includes lower-end diners, family restaurants, and bars that serve food, though. It's not super complicated: 20% = divide by 10 and multiply by 2.
