They're not real love confessions. They're JOKES. It's very common for female characters to say they're in love with female characters as a joke without being intended to be non-straight. You must know the stereotype that wlw are nonthreatening because they "really" only like men. This kind of joke is what happens when things are written by people who believe that stereotype. You don't have to like it, but you have to admit that's the intent behind what's going on.

OP, this is literally homophobia - the fact that you're dismissive of any homoerotic or homoromantic suggestion as being "JUST JOKES" between friends. Like, textbook queer dismissal.
