If Ataniell isn't bringing up people's names, then why are so many people jumping on this secret's bandwagon which you just admitted is harping on her?

Because most of what she says to insult FW is to insult the members as well. I mean, I would agree with you and say that most of us that "bandwagoning" are not actually offended by what she says about our characters and personalities, but instead are mostly frustrated with her epic Not Getting It as to why FW "dislikes" her. Also, bored. But I will admit I love FW defensively, and that I see no reason why I shouldn't respond to her grudgy comments, or any of her comments. I don't even understand why "she's just one person" is a valid argument.

There's no continual dogpile. 'Petfucker' is a reference to a wank, and it's funny, and it seems she got that.

The whole single person argument isn't really a defense and I didn't meant it as such. I've seen people badmouth communities and only the really wanky comms (like massive role-playing places) tend to get riled about it, with their members coming up in droves and badmouthing the person. If the community is great enough as it is, then surely one person bitching about it shouldn't bring it down. Nor elicit so much vitriol from its members.

Sorry, I meant that she says things like "I don't like F_W, I think they are nasty, mean, unpleasant people in general, there are a few exceptions but there always are."

I completely understand your point, as that's happened in the past... well, not exactly to me personally, but the invasion thing has happened often enough on FW. It is annoying. However, I don't see the comparison. But yes, Ataniell bitching about FW doesn't bring us down in any way, and it's just irritating. However, I haven't seen a whole lot of vitriol.

Why indeed. *thinks* ...Well, as I've said, it annoys me to see my comm and its members (including myself) badmouthed. I also like to clear things up for people. Tell them that they're wrong. *shrug* I mean, I can't speak for the secret - I didn't make it. I don't know who did. But for myself that's pretty much the reason. Now, really, I have to ask since this is share time - why do you think I shouldn't say anything at all? Why are you involved? If you can answer that without compromising anon, of course.

I'm not the anon you're talking to, but I might as well be since I'm of that opinion, too. I think you should leave it alone because first of all, it's the best approach any time when you've argued about something with someone who won't "get it," especially when the argument starts going in circles.

Second of all, arguing, engaging with her, acting all butthurt about your community (not even you personally) being insulted is wanky. As a member of FW, you're supposed to laugh at the wank, not provide it yourself.

Thirdly, you can hate on any community I like any day. I might have been upset about it and wanted to defend myself for liking the community if I thought your opinion and approval was worth anything at all, if I had the slightest bit of respect for you, that is. I don't. So I just don't get why you can't react the same way to Ataniell, unless you're saying you respect and value her opinion, on some level.

That clears up a few things. She did say nasty, mean, unpleasant people and I'm very certain that there are a few people on FW who know that she's referring to them, but I don't think she means the 3,000 plus other people involved on the community, or the ones that lurk there and just watch it. I meant where she was actually calling individuals out.

The comparison I'm attempting to make, and probably going about it clumsily, is that members of FW shouldn't really feel the need to ensure that a person "gets" why the community doesn't like them. Especially not when those people don't represent the entire community but only themselves. I don't believe that every single person on FW, either watching it or joined it, hates or dislikes Ataniell. I'm sure some see her as an amusement. Others just see her as annoying.

So when the secret calls her out as being hated by FW, that would automatically be taken as the entire community hating her. Which is false. However, with people dogpiling her, saying that they agree with the secret, etc., normally it's those people that hate her and don't just find her irritating or amusing or just don't care. When people say that Ataniell has a persecution complex, I can see why she'd have one as a result of this secret being posted because clearly there are some people on FW that do hate her and from the comments, there's at least one person who trolls her journal frequently.

The comparison is this: One person badmouths or misunderstands a community. Community members start attacking her, some with very personal remarks whereas Ataniell seems to use generalizations with "nasty, mean, unpleasant people" instead of actual names. Wankery ensues wherein Ataniell is blamed for having a persecution complex instead of people using common sense and realizing that none of this would have happened had the secret not been made in the first place. The secret was a personal attack and unwarranted as nothing really changes if Ataniell doesn't "get it."

My involvement? Admittedly, I haven't much of one. I'm a member of FW but I tend to be one of those lurkers. The secret riled me because I don't condone trolling in any way, shape, or form and I'm disgusted at a lot of people's involvement throughout. You can say whatever you like, I'm certainly not the fandom police or anything of that sort. You're not the only one commenting, of course, and you've been very civil with me and for that, I thank you.

I think people are missing a few points. Members of fandom wank remember all the past good wanks. They remember Ataniell because of the epic wank and because of her behavior since then. I'm not convinced people pick on her at all.

Ataniell keeps bringing up how mean fandom wankers are, often without any provocation. She says fandom wankers are behind pretty much every negative comment and experience. Ataniell gets wanky, gets angry, and gets paranoid very easily, even when nothing is happening to her. She continually follows the journals and blogs of those she thinks are out to get her. I often see her publicly posting accusations where she doesn't name names but she hints at who she's talking about. On 2 occasions she's posted about situations that I was familiar with, and I knew exactly who she was referring to. I don't think she should be praised for "generalizations" at all, not when she makes things so obvious.

Her persecution complex is not a result of this secret. It's a behavior she has exhibited for years.

That's why I think the secret could be from anyone, not just "obviously" from a fandom wanker. Someone just reading her comments and public posts would know enough to make that secret. That doesn't mean she's being picked on so much that she has a justified persecution complex. It just means she loves the drama and the wank.

IAWTC so hard. Many times it's quite obvious who she's talking about - she had a big blow-up with two of her semi-friends at one point, called them "monsters" and everything, and she references that a lot in this sort of situation.

So that's why you hate her? You're still hurt by her calling you a "monster"? Aww!

It does put a delightful spin on Ataniell's public sanctimony, talking about lashon hara, how linking to a post is an aggressive act, etc.

You say that she's paranoid, etc. But how many people who replied to this secret are members of FW? It's impossible to tell from all the anonymous but the ones that have accounts have identified with being associated with the community. Then there's the fact that this entire thing has been posted on FW and suddenly there are people trolling the wank. There's someone right up there who responded as a member of FW and calling Ataniell names and the like. That's not a coincidence I'm willing to believe.

I'm aware that any persecution complex she may or may not have wouldn't have originated here but the members of FW aren't helping. Neither are the ones trolling the wank.

Protip: Fandom wank is not the only community on the internet that finds Ataniell hilarious.
