As a Mylar writer, I would have to say that most of us don't see it "working" in the way that say, a therapist would approve of. We don't write it because we want them to get a dog and adopt an orphan from Romania.

Then how do you explain the disturbingly common abomination that is Mywalker family fic?

Mylar by itself is ludicrous enough. People who drag Molly into the mix need to have their keyboards forcibly removed.

I can't explain it since I don't read it; I ship Mylar in part because I really don't care for that sort of thing much.

I'll feel obliged to explain it when M3 shippers explain all their happy cupcakes M3 curtainfic despite the extreme histories of trauma and the major cultural clashes that are bound to arise between these 3 individuals.

I can think of M3 fic plots I'd read (including one I've begged an M3 shipper or two to write), but M3 shippers never write them. Everyone involved in M3 has PTSD from the horrific things they've seen, done and been party to. No exceptions. Matt is a good Jewish boy from LA with a long standing hetero history and according hetero self-image. Even if it's the hottest sex he's ever had, there's got to be days when he freaks the fuck out about it especially given all his self-esteem problems rooted in his dyslexia and a very recent unpleasant divorce that's probably not actually even final yet after only 4 months. Mohinder is not just an Indian-American, he's from fucking Chennai. All the Tamil people I've asked about this say there is no way he could tell his family what he's doing if he were openly living with another man as his lover and that even admitting to gay sex would be problematic. Molly is a seriously messed up kid with behaviour problems that are completely understandable given her history, and the most effective technique they've found for dealing with them so far is telepathic mind control. I agree that Sylar and Molly have no business being on the same continent, due to the whole he killed her parents and actually IS her boogeyman factor--but Matt's not doing so hot with her either.

M3 is just as guilty as Mylar of squeeing over the cute potential without admitting how fucked up it is. The difference is that Mylar fans admit it's all fucked up. (Because everything, I repeat, everything, in Heroes is fucked up. Bottom line.)

And nobody deserves to lose their keyboard for writing anything. If you don't have a back button get a new browser?
