You know what always annoyed me about Skyrim ... how some side quests/ DLC quests required you to reach a certain point in the main story to progress. For example, at one point in the Dawnguard DLC, you had to obtain the dragon elder scroll. That's fine is you've completed the main quest, but what if you don't want to do the main quest on that specific play through?

You can get that particular elder scroll without doing the Main Quest. My non Dragonborn Altmer completed Dawnguard.
