You probably have a point there.

I agree. When most gay people were rejected from religion and society, a lot of gay people were like "well, if you donm't want us and we're going to Hell anyway, let's put on a show!" I'm not saying everyone was like that, but Waiting until marriage to have sex with your high school sweetheart is pointless if the two of you getting married is illegal by both church and secular law. And the transgressive act of gayness was also appealing to those who created or consumed erotic art in general.

But now homosexuality is so mainstream there are wholesome family shows on tv with gay main characters. Like, think about the difference between QaF and The Fosters. Or the fact that "church queens" exist. Since being gay is no longer associated with teenagers having to put themselves in danger just to meet other gay people or give up religion or a desire for a mainstream life...

Generation Z is shrieking at us about how Rocky Horror is transphobic because they don't understand that for like 20-25 years, that was all most of us had. Or that Call Me By Your Name is "pedophilia".

So yeah, a lot of our history and culture is misconstrued when interpreted by people who can now publicly hold hands with their same sex high school sweetheart as they plan their legal church wedding. And that totally bleeds into telling other people what sexual fantasies they are and are not allowed to express.

Reminds me of how often, in various online spaces, I see the idea of gay people being flamboyant or androgynous or just visibly sexual getting a lot of "You/we are accepted as normal now, stop being so weird!", trying to separate out the good, proper gays from the bad, kinky ones, when it used to be the latter was assumed to be all gay people. "Come up on this pedestal so long as a select few get kicked back down" type of shit.

I see this really often, too, and it makes me sad. :,(

I've got nothing really to say about the content of your secret, but...

I find it fucking hilarious that you warned for "nudity" when that's blatantly the LEAST disturbing thing about that image.

(Not actually offended/upset, for the record. I did say "what the fuck" out loud, but I'm a very hard person to disturb. THAT SAID, how the FUCK...why the FUCK...?)

That's an image by Robert Mapplethorpe (a self-portrait, that's him). An extremely famous artist whose work has been at the center of the free expression/kink/art/gay culture debate literally for decades. His work is in prestige galleries.
