For this specific fandom, I'm fine with this line usually. It's the "punk" and "jerk" that's clunky.

Just like the similar one in Supernatural.

They're trying to show the teasing, not that those are the words used all the time. Learn to right some gd dialogue.

Let's just say it's "Bitch" and "Jerk". Once each fic is okay. Making up a good portion of their entire conversation: NOT okay.

Yup, totally agree. Sometimes it really works, sometimes it's so shoe-horned in, or puffed up for bathos, that you just can't care.

(This goes doubly for nicknames or 'quippy' lines that were used once for a particular reason, but are repeated practically every other chapter - or paragraph. 'Sourwolf' comes to mind....)

I've been a little worried about this happening in Thor fic with "I'm here" but it is such a moment if you're invested in Thor and Loki's emotional journeys...so I get you. Having said that I'd probably take seeing that line forever and ever if I could never see dumbass pop tart Thor ever again.

IMO the original "with you to the end of the line" would have worked a lot better if it actually called back to Cap1 ("not without you"?) instead.

Yeah there are times when a favourite canon line can be used well, but like with anything over-use is the issue, certainly if it's done in the same fic. Moderation and all.

"Careful, Ren." and now "rabid curr" for Kylux. /longsuffering sigh

Oh, to see insult like mangy/rabid cur always make me smile ( I like historical fandoms where such insultrs were thrown about frequently, so to see it here... :) )

I think it's totally fine to reference it but I've read fic where it was used once every two paragraphs and then it gets boring.
