137) I watch it for the violence. Slamming monster's heads into sharp pointy nails FTW!! (also yes, lead is hot)

142) I... kind of want to see it. Like a lot.

169) I think it's the flames in the background? That's what made it great and uber-tasty.

Sometimes reading f!s bums me out when I realize that nerds/dorks/geeks only feel redeemable if they are considered sexy or thin. It's very WTF. My offline fandom buddies do not seem as occupied with this as my online ones do. What gives?

[identity profile] sleepherealone.livejournal.com 2008-07-17 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed. The only thing I don't like about FFVII is the crazy fandom, even after all these years. Otherwise, I'm a total worshiper, but I did love IX a whole fucking lot as well.

For real! I don't give a happy damn how much of a bubbly girl she was, she was still a murderer.

Oh Raider Nation, you make Oaktown interesting.

Wow, there's someone else who does this? I'm not alone? Awesome!

[identity profile] fandaban.livejournal.com 2008-07-17 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
141. No. No, you are not.

While, I'm a straight A student with a fair number of friends in outside of the internet, there have been days when I've been on the computer for 11 hours and wondered the same thing.

[identity profile] snackbreak.livejournal.com 2008-07-17 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG. I actually went to this community just to look at 162 in its homeland XD

Possibly the only 'saved my life' secret I could ever even slightly relate to.

103. Holy FUCKNUTS yes.

111. You're kidding, right? Of course she's a Mary Sue. It's Courtney fucking Love.

117. My dear, you are most certainly on to something there.

142. That show is awesome!

152. DUDE. DUDE. THE FANDOM IS FUCKING TERRIFYING.

159. Lol. Just... lol.

166. Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes.

172. That's, like... totally awesome, man. A little weird, but, you know, weird is good.

119. I predict a lot of wank from this one (and really don't want to read comments to check for it...), but I for one am really happy for you. If you're happy with yourself, that's what matters, right? I know I gained a lot of self-confidence when I slimmed down~ I think it's also possible to be heavier and be happy with yourself, though -- just sometimes more difficult because of the ridiculous stigma attached to it...

124. You're right. Misa needs a Matsuda and Sakura needs a Kiba *shot* No, actually, I like Sakura with a lot of people.

133. I predict you're probably just being overly critical of yourself. I really have yet to meet a person that's truly "boring." Sure, we might not be into the same stuff, so we don't click, but so long as you have hobbies/interests/aspirations/something, you're not boring. You just need to find someone that shares those same ones. PS: everyone lets fandom down. Fandom is never satisfied.

you are not alone. i met him at comic-con in 2006 and all i could really do was stare in glorious appreciation.

Too Big

This happened to me too, except with doujinshi scans and fanart. Luckily (or maybe unluckily?), the hard drive had melted, so no one ever saw anything.

What a beautiful secret.

N!S1: Thank you, I totally agree with this.

155: Nobody cares why those that like her, like her; those of us who don't, just don't want to feel that we have to pretend so that you and fandom_wank and the omg internalised misogyny police won't hold us up in public as examples of why the whole fandom is sexist and woman-hating and self-hating. Just because we like the show's narrow focus on the brothers and their relationship, aren't interested in the girls the actors date, and don't want them to have canonical girlfriends or be part of a larger team, does not mean that we hate ourselves, you or any other woman.

148: What I don't understand is how anyone can even take otakin seriously. Muses are a phenomenon I understand. This is common in writers. But we know that no matter how real they may seem (and I am the type that gets advice and arguments from mine) the things they say come from deep in our own subconscious minds. If my Chase muse were real, I should be able to do surgery. I'm not. If my Jim Profit muse, also a loud bastard, were real, I would know how to take over corporations. And speak Chinese. Which I never managed to learn to do even when I was married to a guy from HK. Yet despite how loud these critters are, and how good they are at putting together subconscious cues from my environment, they do not really know anything that I haven't learned myself in some way to some extent. I have to do research to write them. And so does everyone else that I know. How can you really think that you actually ARE Sailor Moon if you can't do the I'm-gonna-kick-your-butt-dance and then smite the ungodly with your moon stick? I don't get it. I get how therianthropes/furries/animal 'kin' work. People have been having animal spirit totems since the beginning of time. Maybe they're spiritual entities and maybe they're a part of the subconscious mind like my muses. But I just can't extend that to a character, that no matter how much I may love her, has to fight the tennis shoe monster on TV because somehow they have to stretch one manga installment out to four weekly TV eps. If this is a failure of my imagination, so be it.

146. He'll always be my favourite doctor.

cleverthylacine: a cute little thylacine (animagus fairlight)

[personal profile] cleverthylacine 2008-07-17 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
137. This kind of thing is always a matter of opinion. I like their acting fine. And the show.

131. You and all the rest of us. I have playlists for my RP pairings.

130. There are lots of Saint-Germain fans, but Chelsea Quinn Yarbro is adamantly against fanfic and has rabid lawyers, the kind that you have to summon from hell, not call from the phone book.

129. It was all too stupid to be tragic. Lalalalalalalalalalala didn't happen.

120. Um, characters are not real people who deserve respect; they're only as good as they're written to be. Mo is kind of dumb in the show. Given two choices, he is almost as bad as Peter for always making the wrong one. With all the love and respect in the world for the actor, his culture and his considerable beauty, Mohinder is the world's blondest desi. I don't have a lot of respect for Mohinder. And I think he was happy with "Zane". They were hot together, so I ship them, even though it's pretty damn sad when Sylar is the person who has to take care of you because you're kind of an idiot about life. If it were possible for Sylar to be redeemed then they could have a happy life together someday. But it probably isn't. That's okay. I don't ship Mylar for the curtain fic, I ship it for the twisted kinky sex. I don't see the subtext with Matt and Mo. They live together for the sake of Molly, they bicker a lot. They act like people who've been married 20 years, or long-term roommates. Not lovers. Four months ago Matt had just left Janice. What, did the honeymoon last ten minutes? If we're going to talk about what people deserve, Matt deserves someone who is really into him after X years of Janice, not someone who bitches at him all the time after only four months. Mohinder...is going to wander into his own destruction anyway; it might as well be hot.

109. I call troll. "Past her prime"? She's hot and she's young. I don't know who she is but she is no hag.

106. I think it's more likely that some unresolved issue from your own family history makes you attracted to both h/c and messed up men. Maybe there was someone in your family whose addictive behaviour affected your parents even though you may never have known of it. Talk to Co-Dependents Anonymous or Alateen/Adult Children of Alcoholics.

101. I'm not an atheist but he is sure awesome. And I fucking love his show.
