It would be possible--but difficult--for Mohinder/Sylar to have a happy ending. They'd have to go far, far away and establish a new life for themselves, and Sylar would have to stop killing. But I don't think most Mylar fans want happy endings anyway. It's not what I read the pairing for.

I'd like your thoughts on M3. I totally think that they are NOT a happy little fambly.

To get to a "happy ending" there would have to be a 'Hannibal' level of mind-fuckery going on and I personally would still be going "WTF MOHINDER HE KILLED YOUR DAD!". It's veeeeeeeery difficult to get to that place, but yeah, I guess anything is possible! I don't read it for the happy endings but I've seen so much Mylar fluff lately that I have to wonder what other fans want out of this pairing o_O

And yeah they aren't. They just bitch at each other all the time ha ha.

The Mohinder my best friend writes to my Sylar sees the dad-killing thing as kind of a plus, lol, but his brain is so melted. A lot of good Mylar psychological fic turns on the fact that Chandra rejected him and disrespected him because he wasn't special enough either.

Agreed 100% on the bitch bitch bitch of 3M.

This? SO TRUE. I love when people explore that. I actually play Mohinder in an RPG and it's such a great challenge interacting with Sylar, especially now after Sylar saved Mohinder's life in the game XD Poor Mo... his brain hurts lol.

Pfft, you say that like "bitching" isn't a happy ending for some people. (You clearly have never met my family-- going on forty years of marriage and they're constantly bitching at each other.) Not that it is healthy, I don't think we saw them on-screen together enough to get a handle on the relationship, but some people enjoy yelling at each other a lot.

That said, I'm going to have to point out that, at least IMO, "hannibal level mind-fuckery" isn't a happy ending at all. Because, well, it's mind-fuckery. I can't speak for the OP, but I'm betting that's where she's coming from too.

Re: 120

[identity profile] metatarsus.livejournal.com 2008-07-18 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
LOL yeah that's true... I guess I meant more in the sense that people tend to write them as being incredibly romantic and fluffy all the time and truthfully, that's pretty OOC for both of them.

And oh no, I totally agree, that's why I put "happy ending" in quotation marks ha. It may be a happy ending on the surface but it's obviously still just as fucked up, if not MORE so. But again, like I said, I don't read Mylar and expect to find them living happily in a house with a white picket fence and 2.5 kids and a dog XD I'm in it for the angst.

Re: 120

You have a point. There aren't enough fics where they start yelling or picking at each other. But most people fail at writing real relationships that are full of arguments and holes. It's like fandom sees "they're a functional couple" and makes the relationship entirely idealized. Which is nice every once in a while, but kidn of dumb when that's the only thing ever written.

Mylar is entertaining when they really want to kill each other, and the sex is just a prelude to the hurt-y bits. :D But Sylar-fic in general is that way. Sex is just prelude to pain and/or mind-fuckery.
