101. The stories of him signing autographs with "There is no God" at the end really bug me more than anything. For obvious reasons, I suppose, but if I went up to a performer at the end of the show and got that, or some other religious message when I just wanted a siggy, I'd be a put put out.

104. The old BK trading cards? Man, I remember those and a frantic summer trying to collect them all. I loved those things. Kinda wish I could do that now. That shouldn't be secret--it's just nifty.

117. Well, Doctor Who to Dr. Watson is like comparing apples to meatloaf, really. They're not even in the same foodgroupe. That said--I love Watson. I heart him so much, and I'm always infuriated when he's portrayed as an overweight bumbler.

123. I hear that. I truly do. Honestly, if it wouldn't've been for my best friend and my doing my best to keep myself in a vaccumm, I don't think I could handle LotR anymore. Actually, it's only this past week that I've picked them up again. Talk about something deep and beautiful turned into something cheap and lewd.
...let's not even get into the rape of Legolas' character (which was occassionally funny) and Pippin's (which was not).

125. 1...2...3... Awwwwwwww! That's so sweet!

127. I will need to check that place out!

129. What a shocking secret! Given the fact that Rose seems despised by fandom at large, and Donna is widely loved, that must truly be kept secret!
Here's my post-secret: It was. It was infinitely more tragic. And I say this as a stout shipper as well. Rose was seperated "forever" from the man she loved, but she retained everything she learned from him and went on to better her life and kick butt. Donna...Donna lost everything.

135. I've only seen episode 1 of A2A, but I think it's basically fanfic. It's just not canon to LoM. She read about Sam's experiences, then in a time of crisis, drew upon them herself (so I don't know why she kept asking about Sam, if she was so convinced she was in her own mind). Like any self-insert, she even eliminated the competetion (Sam and Gene's wife). Their minds don't magically overlap. So...I don't see why folk can't ship both. I mean, I don't ship Sam/Guv, but if you did...

137. I've never seen SN, and probably never will, but I hear you about the first bit. I'm tired of "Oh, you only like Johnny Depp because he's pretty and popular." Um, no. I like him because I like the kind of characters he creates. Pretty is icing on the cake. I don't go and watch Orlando Bloom movies for fun, bless him. Or of course, "People only like David Tennant's Doctor because he's young and sessy, and they ignore how much he sucks as a person!" Yeah, because the idea of liking a character for their numerous, layered, and occassionally creepy flaws is so foreign. It's gotta be about my pants.

142. I would actually love to be into that show. But I love enough things that are far too cheesy for me to admit to, couldn't bear to add one more fandom of the like. But it just looks so bright and happy, like something enjoyable to watch. (The fact that it brings back childhood could figure into it).

146. Y'know, I thought I was the only one. But for a brief, brief second, I thought that maybe some trick of time or a hiccup in the DNA would cause him (temporarily) to regenerate backwards. Or at least that the hand would be him. I miss him like burning, and I want him to come back for just a bit (honestly, I'd love to see him interact with Ten, because he'd hate him).

149. No idea what it is, but I find the secret sweet and inspiring.

150. HAH! I'm the same! I don't even really like SNL, either, but every time I see him, he's fantastic!

163. Agreed. I am so tired of watching Jack crying heartbrokenly because he's just bad at it. It's like William Shatner bad, only moreso. More camp, anyway. As Captain Jack in DW, he was fantastic, but as the serious fearless leader...less so. He's a cool guy, but he's not the greatest actor ever (though I'm sure he's better on stage).

166. Yeah.

167. Heh. My ex-not-quite boyfriend/current best guy pal looks almost exactly like Jeff Goldblum.

He's BRILLIANT on stage. Gosh, couldn't take my eyes off of him.

Oooh yeah, I mean, I'm not a fan of Doctor Who [well, the new series at least] but at least I recognize David Tenant is a good actor [having seen him in Casanova and other stuff].

<3 to you~~

I didn't mean it as a direct comparison, but more of as a 'everyone loves that doctor, well, I love this one' statement.

(honestly, I'd love to see him interact with Ten, because he'd hate him).

OH MY GOD. I thought I was the only one who thought this. I am fully convinced that if Nine knew about the stunt Ten pulled in Girl in the Fireplace with leaving Rose and Mickey to rot away on some spacestation, he would cross his own timeline just to slap the crap out of him.

Re: 146

[identity profile] omorka.livejournal.com 2008-07-18 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I had to write seriously cracky theories involving long backstory (One arrives in France something like 50 years later, so maybe Ten was just going to wait around until that happened and then steal One's TARDIS to go rescue Rose and Mickey) to make Ten not be the Jerk of the World in that ep.

Although, if you think Nine would hate Ten, I'm curious to find out what Six would make of either one . . .

Re: 146

[identity profile] wolveswithhats.livejournal.com 2008-07-18 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
I'm only familiar with new!Who, so I couldn't even comment on the reaction of any of the past regenerations. D:

That episode was so love/hate for me. Loved the sets, the wardrobe and the general time period (18th century Versailles = <3), as well as the steampunk!robots, but the rest? GOD. It's totally sad when fans have to scramble for ways to justify OOCness/super dickery on behalf of the writers.

Re: 146

[identity profile] bluerosefairy.livejournal.com 2008-07-20 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
OH MY GOD, YES.

Not only do I agree with Nine hating Ten, but there's a bunch of things Ten did that would have driven Nine up a wall (GitF being one of them, the whole chameleon arch and John Smith adventure and what it did to Martha being another). I also think he and Donna would have been even more bickery and awesome than Ten and Donna.

Original poster is in ur repliez, agreein with u.

Yeah, that's Barrowman's problem. He stage acts too much. You have to be a bit over the top and so on when you're on the stage, because there's no close-ups for the people in the back. Obviously, not an issue with TV and I think (hope?) that he's finally catching on to that.

(Anonymous) 2008-07-18 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
It is extremely enjoyable to watch. I was smiling the whole time.

129. Took the words right out of my mouth, you did.

135. Like any self-insert, she even eliminated the competetion (Sam and Gene's wife).

This is creeping me out. I honestly didn't even think of it that way, but you're right....
