But even if I weren't in fandom, what would I do? Join a club for something I'm not interested in? Hang out with people I have nothing in common with?

I feel like I have no life for spending so much energy on fandom, but... what's the alternative, really?

Part of me hopes they were all trolls, but a larger part of me realizes they probably aren't... oh, the internet. I just have to laugh.

2) Yep (IRL, even!)
3) HIT - if I weren't in fandom, I'd probably be actually working on the half-started novel of mine. But I consider fanfic to be of equal validity, so whatever.
4) Nevaaaah!

6) I can't own pets where I live. D: I want my kitties back...
7) Another hit. I don't read as much as I used to - I'd rather read fic. Also having to read for school has kind of killed my desire to read for pleasure.
8) Cons, going to Japan next year - agsdhl it counts man. Really.
9) Of course.
10) Collecting anime-related goods.

If I weren't in fandom, I'd probably just sit at home and read alone like I did when I was younger. I didn't even start making real friends until sixth grade when I ran into someone who also read Tamora Pierce novels and we fangirled them together and argued Kel/Cleon vs. Kel/Neal... eight years later and I finally realized that hanging out with people who aren't in fandom in any way just bores me to tears 90% of the time. I just end up not being myself around non-fandom types (family excluded) and I don't like it. :/

Sigh. Fandom 4 lyfe.
