What has surprised you recently?

I called Capital One today for some customer service. And I was shocked to find that they were Americans! I don't really care what nationality my customer service people are but that surprised me.

Kind of a depressing one. But we just found out last night that a close family friend died. He had cancer (not entirely sure what kind). It had been a pretty severe kind, they didn't think he was going to make it. But the aggressive treatment seemed to be working, the cancer had become much less severe. But then he died. Reminds me, honestly, of my friend who died a little over a year ago. Almost the same situation: cancer, in remission, sudden death.

That sucks so much, I'm sorry. :(

Same thing with my aunt. She was doing so well, back to walking 5km a day again, and then in less than a month (with most of the down hill to death happening in the last week) she just totally backslid. It was terrible.

Condolences on your loss. I've been there with the whole "Maybe they're getting better" thing, only to be proven horribly wrong.

Someone I dated over 30 years ago found me through Facebook. Fortunately he's a very nice person so I didn't mind.
