I don't know why everyone keeps assuming this tbh. It's a slice of life comic about a widower bonding with his cat - not a plot heavy drama. Also, that wouldn't be a good way to sell keychains and stickers of the cat. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think we're all just so used to cute/nice things getting turned edgy and dark that we just assume the worse
