I'm not going to see the movie but the first one was amazing and John Boyega is great and I am opposed to any revisionism whatsoever on those two points

It was OK, but I don't think it was as good as the first one. I'm annoyed by what was done with a couple of the original film's characters, but I fully admit that's personal bias because I liked them.

Mako dies and Newt is brainwashed by the Kaiju's creators into becoming a bad guy and betraying humanity, and as far as can be seen there isn't a way to restore him to normal.

John Boyega was great.

However, it was not as good as the original, and...yeah. It did some weird things with the canon and the characters that I don't totally agree with.

(And I will be writing fix-it fic for one particular spoiler that really irked me.)
