Grimdark "realistic" takes on canon, "this is how it'd really end up" kind of thing. Look, I don't care how much trauma these kids should ~realistically~ be left with; they got a happy enough and hopeful enough ending in canon, so can we please leave it at that

...is what I think while I wisely refrain from commenting on fic that is otherwise well enough written for me to have definitely have commented if it didn't seem to have that agenda.
